BASIC QA Questions

What QA processes did you use (explain a whole QA life cycle, detailing for each step what documents are received and from who, what deliverables(documents) you produce and what communication was involved (like meetings, email, sign-offs(what a sign-off includes and to who you direct it, etc.. )

Give the timeframes for each phase of the QA life cycle (ambiguity reviews, test plans, test cases, test execution, defect tracking,)

In which document do you list the number of test cases that have passed or failed and in which document do you list the defects?

Explain each deliverable in detail (defect report, status report, go/no go report...)

How would you deal with a project that needs to be tested in iterations? What would you test first, how would you handle regression testing?

Explain what tools were used and at what step in your QA cycle (.doc, .xls, databases, Quality Center, Clear Quest, QTP, ...)

What do you do if a document you need from the development team is not received in time? And if the development team does not deliver the doc even after asking for it?

What was the most difficult challenge you encountered in QA? (and why, and how did you solve it?)

What front-end (GUI) SQL tools you used?

If using SQL, would it matter what database (Oracle, DB2, ...) you use or would it be completely transparent?

Can you explain me about your role in any project—may b about the latest one or whichever you want
So did you work as a Black-box tester?
What type of architecture was it?
So what tiers did you test and how?
How did you perform XML validation? (Manually or with any tools is what he meant?)
7. So what is the request and response Xml?
8. How do you verify the tags in the XML?
9. Where did you check your XML's/ Where were the XML's logged? and how did you test webservices?
10. Can you explain how the flow is from UI-XML- Backend?
What do you expect from the development team? What is that would be useful to you?
What methodologies have you worked on?
What is the difference between RUP and waterfall?

Tell me about your latest project? What was you role and what do you think was your greatest challenge in this?
Once you get the requirements can you track how you perform your role?
Have you performed UAT? Usually who responsibility is it?
what did you do in a JAD session?

If you don't have enough time how will execute run the test cases?
If you are not given detailed description of requirements what will you do?
How do you go about doing analysis? Do you generate reports?
Suppose you create a filter of few test cases in QC, how will you send it to another person?
How much time in your opinion should be divided between testing and analysis?
In your opinion, when should a QA be included in a project?

What is the best project or best scenario you have worked on till now?
Have you created any defect reports? What did you include?
What is the difference between RUP and Agile?
What are the 2 differences and 2 similarities of RUP and waterfall?
What model would you prefer and why would you choose one model over the other?

-your 3 strengths
-commuting to SF
-any issues with team members

How did you use QTP in your project
Any challenges with QTP and how did you overcome those
Rate yourself in QTP & QC 1 is bad and 10 is Excellent
Rate yourself in vbscript 1 is bad and 10 is Excellent
